Privacy Policy (GDPR / DSGVO)
1. General Information
This website belongs to the community-run DayZ Afterlight game server. We do not sell personal data.
Personal data is only processed when necessary to provide the website or when voluntarily submitted by users.
2. Data We Process
Every visitor
- IP address
- Browser, device, and request information (for security and compatibility)
- Access logs (for attack prevention and server stability)
Only if you log in. Logging in is entirely optional; the rest of the site works without it.
- Your Discord ID, Discord display name and avatar reference, received from Discord when you authorise the login
- Your Steam ID (SteamID64), but only if you choose to link your Steam account, together with the date you linked it
- A login session cookie (see section 5)
- Your in-game match record for our server — kills, deaths, K/D, playtime, accuracy and similar figures — retrieved from CFTools using your linked Steam ID (see section 8) and from our own kill feed. Without a linked Steam account none of this is connected to you.
We never see or receive your Discord or Steam password. Linking Steam happens through Steam's own login, which only confirms to us that the account is yours.
If you actively submit a request via our Discord ticket system, your Discord username and message contents are processed only on Discord, not stored on this website.
3. Purpose of Data Processing
- Deliver website content
- Ensure server and website stability
- Protect against attacks, bot traffic, and misuse
- Improve gameplay balance and server performance
- Keep you signed in to your profile
- Show your own player statistics and priority queue status, which requires matching your linked Steam account to your in-game record
Your profile page is visible to you and to our administrators only; it is not shared with other players. The Top 100 leaderboard is a separate and deliberately limited publication — section 7 lists exactly what appears there and how to be left off it.
4. Legal Basis (GDPR)
- Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: Necessary processing for service delivery, including your profile and the statistics it shows once you log in
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: Legitimate interest (security, stability, community support)
- Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR: Consent, where you actively choose to link your Steam account. You can withdraw it at any time by unlinking.
5. Cookies
We use one cookie, and only after you log in: a session cookie named website_sid that keeps you signed in. It expires after 7 days, cannot be read by JavaScript, and is only sent over HTTPS.
It is strictly necessary to provide the login you asked for, so it does not require a consent banner. We use no advertising, tracking or profiling cookies. If you never log in, no cookie is set.
6. Game Server Environment
- Our DayZ game server uses community mods, including:
CF (Community Framework): supports core gameplay mechanics
This mod operates exclusively on the game server and does not transmit personal data to this website. - We operate optional website accounts (see section 2). We do not operate an economy system, trader markets, or a currency system.
7. Public Leaderboard
- Our Server Dashboard publishes a Top 100 leaderboard. For each listed player it shows the in-game name together with kills, deaths, K/D ratio, playtime, longest kill and the Afterlight Rank derived from those figures. These are the match records CFTools keeps for our server (see section 8).
- No account identifiers are published. Steam IDs, Discord IDs, CFTools IDs and IP addresses are never part of the leaderboard. The page is served from a prepared file that contains only the fields listed above, so no other data can be reached through it.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in a fair, visible competitive ranking for our community. Only an in-game alias and match statistics are shown.
- Opt-out: you can object to being listed at any time. Open a ticket in our Discord and we will exclude your name — the board then closes the gap and the ranks below you move up. Exclusion also removes your figures from the all-time totals shown on that page.
- The all-time kill and playtime counters on that page are aggregate community totals. They are not attributed to individuals and cannot be traced back to a single player.
8. Donations & Third-Party Services
- We receive community donations via GoFundMe.
- Donor and payment data is processed exclusively by GoFundMe under their own privacy policy.
- This website does not store or process financial or payment information.
- Other external platforms linked or used by us may include:
- Discord: Community, support and the website login. When you log in, Discord tells us your Discord ID, display name and avatar.
- Steam (Valve): Used only to confirm that a Steam account belongs to you when you link it.
- CFTools Cloud (CFTools Software GmbH, Germany): Our game server records match history and playtime through CFTools. To show your own statistics and priority queue status, we send your linked Steam ID to CFTools and receive your record for our server in return.
- Vercel: Hosting and privacy-friendly usage statistics (Vercel Web Analytics). It sets no cookies and does not track you across other websites; it counts page views and derives no profile about you.
- Server hosting providers: Infrastructure operation
These providers process data under their own privacy policies. Deleting your data with us does not delete the records Discord, Steam or CFTools hold; for those, please contact them directly.
9. Data Retention
- Access logs (including IP addresses) are automatically deleted within 7 days
- Support messages exist only on Discord and follow Discord's data retention rules
- The login session cookie expires after 7 days, or immediately when you log out
- Your profile (Discord ID, display name, avatar reference and any linked Steam ID) is kept only while your account exists. You can delete it yourself at any time using Delete my data on your profile page, which removes it immediately and in full.
- Unlinking Steam removes your Steam ID straight away and leaves the rest of your profile intact
- Match records are the exception. Kills, deaths and hits recorded by our kill feed, and the per-season summaries built from them, are kept indefinitely as the game server's moderation and competitive history. They are stored against your in-game name and your CFTools account, not against your website profile — so deleting your profile removes the link between you and those records, but does not erase the records themselves. If you want them removed as well, ask us using the details in section 11 and we will do it.
10. Your Rights
- Request access to your data
- Request deletion or correction
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Request your data in a portable format
- File a complaint with an EU/German supervisory authority
Two of these you can exercise yourself, without asking us: Unlink removes your Steam ID, and Delete my data removes your whole profile. Both are on your profile page. For anything else, contact us using the details in section 11.
